Norpac was involved in several rope-access slope stabilization projects during the construction of the Site C Hydroelectric Dam, including scaling, rock anchor and drain installation, post-tensioning of anchors and shotcrete placement. The scope of work included the following:
- Drilled and installed 3,000 linear metres of rock bolts and approximately 1,000 m3 of wet-mix shotcrete in 2017. This was high-angle access and drilling, utilizing two Dachs drills equipped with 3” down the hole hammers and 3 5/8” bits. Shotcrete was applied using a crane with man basket.
- Applied over 9,000 m³ of wet-mix shotcrete on the head wall above the inlet and outlet diversion tunnels, spillway wall and core trench in 2018 and 2019. Also completed drilling of dowels and drains on vertical walls, rock and ice scaling, and installation of navigation signage on bridge piers.
Drilled and installed 3,464 linear metres of rock dowels on the dam core and buttress in 2020.
